RESTART dental care: An invitation to Have Your Say and participate in the “RESearch priority seTting About dental caRe in people with lived experience of severe menTal distress”
We would like to invite you to participate in the Research Priority Setting regarding dental care in people with a wide range of lived experiences of severe mental distress. By severe mental distress, we mean conditions such as schizophrenia and other psychotic illnesses, bipolar affective disorder, significant depressive and anxiety disorders, and dependency on alcohol or illicit drugs.
Service users, carers, mental health and dental care professionals, academics, funders, charities, foundations, professional bodies and other organisations supporting this group of people are all invited to participate.
This will help us find out what research would make a difference to people with severe mental distress, their carers and health professionals.
Improving dental care in people with severe mental distress is part of supporting their recovery and improving their mental and physical health and wellbeing.
What is RESTART?

RESTART is a research priority setting bringing together people with severe mental distress, their carers, clinicians and other partners to identify and prioritise uncertainties, or ‘unanswered questions’, about dental care for people with severe mental distress.
What would taking part in RESTART involve?
You are invited to complete a short online survey (5 minutes approximately) at:

We’d be most grateful if you could also:
– circulate the link to the survey by email or other channels to encourage people with severe mental distress, carers, clinicians and support networks to complete it
– post and tweet about the survey using #RESTARTdentalcare being sure to link to the survey in the Facebook post or tweet
– keep in touch with RESTART so that you can be invited to help in the next stage of prioritising the questions that are received and vote on which of the questions raised should be a priority.
Incentives
To thank you for your participation in RESTART, you can enter a random prize draw by ticking the corresponding box at the end of the survey. We will award 20 randomly selected respondents who completed the survey each with a £10 worth gift card.
